Here at The Still Point, we offer a wide range of specialized modalities—which are simply specialized "modes" or methods of bodywork tailored to specific goals. Whether the focus is on structural alignment, nervous system regulation, or injury recovery, these different techniques allow us to customize your care
Our team of therapists share a common philosophy—that slow, intentional work creates the most lasting change. However, each practitioner brings their own unique training and presence to the work.
While we provide massage therapy sessions that are widely recognized, we invite you to experience how our more specialized modalities can redirect your healing experience. Our therapists work integratively, often weaving together several methods to respond to what your body needs in the moment.
A Note on Deep Tissue: We do not offer traditional, force-based "Deep Tissue" massage. Instead, some therapists offer Deep Pressure, which accesses deeper muscle layers through slow, responsive movements that respect the nervous system's pace.
Please note: Not all modalities are offered by every therapist. We recommend viewing our Therapist Bios (https://www.seattlestillpoint.com/)to find the best match for your needs.
• Acupressure: Stimulates specific points along energy meridians to influence organ systems and relieve blockages.
• The Art of Bodywork: Addresses functional and structural problems through a series of gentle, soft tissue methods.
• Body/Mind Awareness: Uses mindfulness to explore physical sensations and emotions, fostering insight and embodiment.
• Bowenwork: Precise, gentle movements that prompt the autonomic nervous system to initiate self-healing.
• Breath Work: Conscious breathing techniques to regulate the nervous system and access deeper somatic states.
• Craniosacral Therapy: Gentle, still touch focusing on the skull, spine, belly and sacrum to release central nervous system tension.
• Deep Pressure: Accesses deeper muscle layers and structural imbalances through slow, intentional, and non-forced movement.
• Deep Relaxation: A refined skillset where the therapist uses intentional pace, motion, and a calming vocal presence to help the body shift out of stress mode and into restorative rest.
• Energetic Touch / Reiki: A subtle approach using intention and light touch to balance the body’s energy and welcome ease.
• Face Massage: Targets facial muscles and connective tissues to release tension in the jaw, cheeks, temples, and brow.
• Gentle Swedish: Classic, flowing strokes with light-to-moderate pressure to soothe the nervous system and ease fatigue.
• Injury Treatment: Targeted techniques to support tissue repair, pain relief, and improved functional movement.
• Intraoral Massage: Safe work inside the mouth to address jaw dysfunction (TMJ), clenching, and headaches.
• Intuitive Touch: A highly skilled and responsive practice where the therapist listens to the subtle cues of your tissue and nervous system, adjusting technique in the moment.
• Lomi Lomi: A traditional Hawaiian practice using long, rhythmic strokes—primarily with the forearms—to create whole-body harmony.
• Lymphatic Work: Light, directional strokes to support fluid movement, reduce swelling, and support immune health.
• Lymphatic Mojo: Designed to boost the body's ability to move lymph more efficiently by stimulating specific areas in the body in a specific sequence.
• McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release: A specific, gentle protocol to improve the mobility and texture of dense scar tissue (appropriate for scars 8 weeks or older).
• Meditation: Guided internal focus during a session to support presence, stillness, and emotional clarity.
• Myofascial Facilitation / MFR / Myofascial Work: Sustained pressure to release restrictions in the fascia (connective tissue) to relieve pain and chronic tension.
• Neurofascial Approaches: Techniques addressing the relationship between the nervous system and the fascial web to resolve pain and improve internal communication.
• Oncology Massage: Modified techniques for those affected by cancer, prioritizing safety, subtlety, and restorative touch.
• Prenatal & Postpartum: Specialized care adapted for the physiological and hormonal changes of pregnancy and recovery.
• Reflexology: Stimulation of specific zones on the feet, hands, or ears that correspond to internal organs and systems.
• Rosen Method: Gentle touch and mindful words to release unconscious physical and emotional holding patterns.
• Somatic Bodywork: Explores the relationship between physical sensation and memory to support trauma integration.
• Structural Decompression: Releases pressure in high-tension areas like the spine or joints to improve postural integrity.
• Thai Yoga Massage: A dynamic modality using gentle stretching and rhythmic compression to improve flexibility and restore energy flow.
• Trauma-Informed: An approach rooted in safety and empowerment that recognizes how the nervous system carries past experiences, ensuring sensitivity and respect for boundaries.
• Unwinding: A quiet, responsive process of following the body’s natural desire to move or let go, allowing it to find its own path toward release.
• Visceral Manipulation / Abdominal Massage: Gentle work with the mobility and tone of internal organs to improve systemic function and structural balance.
We do not offer traditional, force-based “Deep Tissue” massage.
Instead, some of our therapists offer Deep Pressure sessions that reach deeper muscle layers through slow, attentive work that follows your body’s cues rather than overpowering them.
At The Still Point, our sessions are guided by:
• Presence and careful listening
• Work that is effective without being painful
• A respect for the connection between body and mind
• Support for nervous system regulation
• Trauma-informed care
• Cultivating deeper body awareness
We understand pain as a neuromuscular and nervous system experience — not simply “tight tissue” that needs to be forced into release. Because of this, we work with the body rather than against it.
We believe lasting relief doesn’t come from intensity. It comes from skill, pacing, and trust. When the body feels safe, it lets go more fully. When we slow down, we can work more precisely.
Our therapists are trained to notice the patterns beneath tension — not just where it hurts, but why it may be holding on. We prioritize sustainable results over short-term intensity, focusing on changes that continue beyond the session rather than soreness that fades in a day or two.
The result is work that is deep, but not harsh. Focused, but never rushed. Grounded in both clinical understanding and genuine care.
Yes. Many of our clients identify as sensitive — to scent, sound, lighting, energy, or touch — and we’ve intentionally created an environment where you can truly settle and feel at ease.
Our space is designed with nervous system regulation in mind:
• Fragrance-free environment
• High-quality, non-toxic lotions and oils
• Shoe-free space
• No harsh cleaning chemicals
• Weekly surface cleaning and monthly deep cleaning
• Air filters running in every treatment room
• Soft, indirect lighting
• Minimal, uncluttered, easy-to-clean decor
• Music selected to support relaxation, never overwhelm
Beyond the physical space, our approach to massage is equally thoughtful.
Every therapist at The Still Point works with sensitivity, presence, and careful attention. While each practitioner has a unique style, we share a common foundation: working in a way that respects your nervous system and supports safety in the body.
Our sessions are always pain-free. We do not believe intensity is necessary for effective results. Instead, we prioritize slow, responsive work that allows your body to soften and release without force.
If you’ve ever left a massage feeling overstimulated, sore, or depleted, our approach may feel different — quieter, steadier, and more sustainable.
A few things we're genuinely proud of:
Our approach to massage is different. We focus on pain-free, meditative, and gentle modalities. We don't believe intensity is necessary for effective results — instead, our therapists work slowly and responsively, allowing your body to soften and release without force. If you've ever left a massage feeling sore, overstimulated, or depleted, our work may feel like a different experience entirely.
Presence is at the heart of every session. From the moment you arrive, your therapist is fully with you — not rushing from the last client, not mentally preparing for the next. We protect that quality of attention by scheduling 30 minutes between every appointment. It's not just a scheduling choice; it's a commitment to showing up for you completely.
We give you the time you paid for. That same 30-minute buffer means your session never gets squeezed. If you booked 60 minutes, our goal is 60 minutes of hands-on time.
Our therapists bring deep expertise. All of our therapists are licensed and insured in Washington State, with advanced training in specialized techniques. We take the craft seriously — and we think it shows.
The space is designed for your nervous system. Fragrance-free, softly lit, quiet, and uncluttered — every detail has been considered with sensitivity in mind. Air filters run in every treatment room, and we use only high-quality, non-toxic lotions and oils. If you're easily overstimulated by scent, sound, lighting, or touch, you'll find this space was built with you in mind.
You'll feel safe here. We hold ourselves to a high standard of professionalism, ethics, and care — which is why so many people call us the best massage in Seattle. Our policies exist to protect both clients and therapists, because this clinic is a safe space for everyone who walks through the door.
That's entirely up to you. We provide a sheet and blanket to drape under during your session, and we strictly follow all Washington State draping laws — only the area being worked on will be uncovered. You can undress to your comfort level and trust that you will never be exposed inappropriately.
Keep in mind that some techniques require direct skin contact, while others work best with a draping. If you'd like guidance on what would be most effective for your session, just ask your therapist.
